The Match of the Millennium
Clive VS Normal Village @ Eigar Studios
Leeds’ self-proclaimed heavyweight champions Normal Village stepped into the ring on Sunday night, facing off against fellow math-rock bruisers Clive in a musical fist fight with considerably more time signatures than actual punches.
The DIY session took place at Eigar Studios on the 2nd of this month, pitching the two bands two to two for a special video recording courtesy of the beautiful and familiar Private Regcords. The bands exchanged punches set for set in a battle which ultimately showcased more of a synergy than a battle, with each act pitching together to make a great pair for the bill. The 'fight' displayed a perfect snapshot of the great live atmosphere crafted by each act. Normal Village established themselves as a Leeds staple last year with the release of their Debut EP Pile On, an abrasive and technical record with a distinct raw sound, mastered through years of playing live. Clive also occupies this great angular, mathematical sound, combining elements of emo and post-rock. Their debut release can also be found on bandcamp too.
What a great pair to set off the first of the Eigar Studio sessions for 2026.
Who do you want in the ring next?
